La
Lisanne is situated on the edge of the Durance Valley, just off the
D561 three kilometres to the west of St. Esteve Janson and six kilometres
west of le Puy St Reparade. |

The nearest towns are Cadenet and La Roque dAntheron, which
are both a five-minute, drive away and Pertuis, which is 15 minutes,
drive. Three larger towns are also within easy reach with Aix en
Provence just 20 minutes drive away, and Avignon and Marseille both
45 minutes distant. The Luberon Mountains are easily accessible
and the only road crossing them starts at Cadenet, continuing via
Lourmarin and Bonnieux, a spectacular journey taking less than half
an hour and giving access to the north Luberon and villages such
as Gordes, Roussillon, Menerbes and Lacoste.

La
Lisanne is situated in the heart of Provence with activities nearby
to suit virtually everyone. The neighbouring small town of La Roque
dAntheron plays host to an international piano festival every
July and August. It also has an Olympic size swimming pool and famous
archery club.

The
River Durance is a bird reserve where enthusiasts can study many species.
There is also a wonderful range of wild flowers in the area including
wild orchids. The whole area is very popular with cyclists and horse
riding enthusiasts as well as providing wonderful walks. |

City-wise,
chic and charming Aix en Provence is less than 30 minutes away, offering
clubs, music, art galleries and museums. This beautiful renowned city
was the birthplace of the artist Cézanne and is a must for
architectural enthusiasts with its fantastic old houses and fountains.
Shopaholics will find a wonderful array of designer boutiques alongside
traditional Provencal wares. It also has a music festival in the summer.

Avignon less than an hour away is a beautiful walled city with the
principal attraction being the Pont of St Benezet, made famous in
the childrens song Sur le Pont dAvignon), and the magnificent
Palais des Papes (Popes Place), dating from the 14th century when
the headquarters of the Roman Catholic church was based there. It
has many small attractive restaurants and also offers a Festival of
Theatre each August. For those wanting a winter break, 15th November
each year sees the launch of the new wines of the Cotes de Rhone with
free wine tasting and a medieval style procession of the brotherhoods
of wine makers in the area, a colourful spectacle not to be missed.
Not far away is the fantsatic pont du Gard a huge aqueduct built in
Roman times. |

The
close proximity to the towns and villages of the Luberon makes La
Lisanne an ideal base for visiting the famous hill top villages of
Bonnieux, Lacoste, and Menerbes. On the other side of the mountains
you will find the cascading village of Gordes and the beautifully
serene Cistercian Abbey de Senaque. Nearby are two of natures
finest works of art, the ochre valleys of Roussillon and the mysterious
Fontaine de Vaucluse, home to the gushing source of the Sorgue River.

Just
half an hour away is the world famous antique town of LIsle
sur la Sorgue which provides an enticing mixture of café life
and antique hunting along the banks of the River Sorgue. |

The
marshlands or the Camargue are just a 40-minute drive, where you can
search out the famous white horses, black bulls and pink flamingos
or simply spend the day on the beach. There too you will find the
towns of Arles, home of the Vincent Van Gogh Foundation and Aigues
Mort, a stunning medieval walled town which once upon a time was a
seaport, but which is now land locked. |
